I didn't come from money. I didn't come from connections. I came from Montego Bay, Jamaica, with a one-way ticket to Martha's Vineyard and a willingness to outwork any room I walked into.

I built my career the hard way — through the restaurant industry, into management and operations — while teaching myself real estate on the side. I learned early that real wealth isn't built on a paycheck. It's built on ownership. So I stopped studying and started doing: finding deals, and putting my own conviction on the line.

That's when I hit the wall every operator hits. The deals were good — the banks just wouldn't fund what didn't fit their box. I refused to accept that “no” as the end of the story. I raised the money myself, convincing private investors to back what the institutions wouldn't. The deals closed. The returns came back.

But I saw something bigger in that grind. I wasn't the only operator getting told no, and the investors writing those checks were carrying all the risk alone. I'd lived both sides of that broken handshake — so I knew exactly how to fix it: pool the capital, spread the risk, and build a vehicle where investors could be passive and operators could finally get funded.
